salvation - Pennamen Music

Romans 10:10
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:9
For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Salvation is also known as deliverance or redemption from sin and the effects of sin.
In Christianity salvation, is the saving of the soul from the consequences of sin.
By the grace of God, our Lord Jesus Christ offers us salvation though faith and the atonement of our sins through the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Luke 24:45
And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

It is through "the foolishness of the message preached" that people are drawn to faith in Jesus Christ.
Salvation is of God, but He uses His people as means by which He saves sinners.

 1 Corinthians 1:21
For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

abominable works, there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven upon
the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the Lord? There they are in great fear, for God is with the generation of the righteous.You shame the counsel of the poor, but the Lord is his refuge.

Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,And cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.
Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.

Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.
Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem.
Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

A Calm Resolve to Wait for the Salvation of God

 Psalm 62:1-12
Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah

My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.

Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales,
They are altogether lighter than vapor. Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery;
If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.

God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.
Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.

 Psalm 65:1
Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; And to You the vow shall be performed.

Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy! For You shall judge the people righteously,
And govern the nations on earth. Selah

Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You.
Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us, And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

Our God is the God of salvation; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.

God the Rock of Salvation

 Psalm 71:1-24
In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.  Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually;
You have given the commandment to save me,
For You are my rock and my fortress.

Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous
and cruel man. For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.
By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.
My praise shall be continually of You.

I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise
And with Your glory all the day.

Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.
For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,
Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!
Let them be confounded and consumed who are adversaries of my life;
Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt.

But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day,
For I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;
I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me,
Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things;
O God, who is like You? You, who have shown me great and severe troubles,
Shall revive me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

Also with the lute I will praise You— And Your faithfulness, O my God!
To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed.
My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded,
For they are brought to shame who seek my hurt.

For God is my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth.

Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation.

Restore us, O God of our salvation, And cause Your anger toward us to cease.
Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?
Will You not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?
Show us Your mercy, Lord, And grant us Your salvation.

I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land.

O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You.

In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also.
The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice:
“Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,
As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
When your fathers tested Me;
They tried Me, though they saw My work.

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

Timothy 3:1-9
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

The Man of God and the Word of God

Timothy 3:10-17
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, perseverance,persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.Yes,and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Qualities of a Sound Church

Titus 2:1-10
But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded,in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.

Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

Trained by Saving Grace

Titus 2:11-15
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

God’s Supreme Revelation

 Hebrews 1:1-4
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

The Son Exalted Above Angels

Hebrews 1:5-14
For to which of the angels did He ever say:
“You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”?
And again:
“I will be to Him a Father,
And He shall be to Me a Son”?

But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says:
“Let all the angels of God worship Him.”

And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits
And His ministers a flame of fire.”

But to the Son He says:

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
Like a cloak You will fold them up, and they will be changed.

But You are the same, and Your years will not fail.”
But to which of the angels has He ever said:
“Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

Do Not Neglect Salvation

Hebrews 2:1-4
Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

Hebrews 2:10
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

 Hebrews 5:9
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

Hebrews 6:9
But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.

Hebrews 9:27-28
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin,for salvation.

A Heavenly Inheritance

1 Peter 1:3-12
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.

Living Before God Our Father

 1 Peter 1:13-21
Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on the Father,who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

The Enduring Word

1 Peter 1:22-25
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,because

“All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers, And its flower falls away,But the word of the Lord endures forever.

Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

The Day of the Lord

2 Peter 3:10-13
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Be Steadfast

2 Peter 3:14-18
Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

Contend for the Faith

Jude 1:3-4
Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 12:10
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

Revelation 19:1
After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God!

The Meaning of Salvation in the Bible

Old Testament
Generally in the Old Testament, the term Salvation concerns physical deliverance or preservation. The major Hebrew verb for salvation, yasha, carries a sense of help, deliver, or save, and used about 205 times in the Bible. It occurs in contexts of re-moving a burden or danger (Ex. 2:17) and can be used of removing someone from the dander of defeat. (Josh.10:6). At other times the term refers to being liberated or set free (Judges 12:2). Used in civil law, yasha pertains to the obligation of one who hears the cry of someone who needs to be saved from mistreatment (Deut. 22:27; 28:29; 2 Sam. 14:4). The Hebrew word appears in many prayer petitions in reference to war and judicial issues (Ps. 3:7;  20:9;  72:4  86:2). The noun speaks of preservation from threatened, impeding, and perhaps deserved danger and suffering (Gen. 49:18; 1 Sam 14:45; Is 12;3).

New Testament
The New Testament concept of salvation includes most of the elements of the Old Testament concept and adds spiritual dimensions. The Greek term soteria has both national and personal aspects. National deliverance is discussed in Luke 1:69. There is a personal deliverance from the sea (Acts 27:34) and prison (Phil. 1:19), and spiritual and eternal deliverance through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; and Romans 10:10). The New Testament uses soteria and the related verb sozo with regard to God's power to deliver from bondage of sin (Phil. 2:12); the future deliverance of the nation of Israel at the second advent of Christ (Luke 1:71; 2 Thess. 2:10; Rev. 12:10).

Jesus the Savior
The designation of Jesus told to His mother by the angel Gabriel was that of Savior, namely, "you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins" (Matt. 1:21).

That He carried that sense of mission throughout His life is clear from His statements in Mark 10:45: " For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many"; and in John 12:27; "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour."

The role of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world is further exhibited by His willingness to go to the Cross when He could have called the forces of Heaven to rescue Him (Matt. 26:53' 54). Rather, He freely gave Himself on the Cross, as depicted in all four Gospels. Ironically, the ones standing by the Cross spoke true words: "He saved others; Himself He cannot save" (Mark 15:31).

Terms Used in Reference to Spiritual Salvation
Election is that aspect of the eternal purpose of God whereby He certainly and eternally determines who will believe and will be saved (Matt. 22:14; Acts 13:48; Eph. 1:4; 2 Thess. 2:13). Yet no one is excused from believing by this doctrine. God "desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:4). Acts 2:21 states that "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Whoever does not accept God's free offer of salvation has no one but himself to blame.

Predestination differs from election in that predestination relates specifically to the intent of God to conform those whom He has chosen to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29, 30).

Calling is used in two senses. The first is the general call of the gospel addressed to all humans (Matt. 22:14; John 3:16-18; 16:7-11). The second call is the application of the word of the gospel to the ones God has chosen, and results in the regeneration (John 6:44; Rom. 8:28, 30; 1 Cor. 1:23, 24).

Law is the means by which God governed His covenant people in the Old Testament, whereas He established His covenant by grace (Gen. 17:7). The New Testament demonstrates that the role of the law is not to justify, but to show us what sin is. It was only a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ (Gal. 2:16; 3:24).

Regeneration refers to the spiritual change brought about in a person by the Holy Spirit, namely a new life. This change is from spiritual death to spiritual life. It is a change in one's very nature, to come in communion with God. The New Testament explicitly presents the doctrine (2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:1; 1 John 4:7), whereas the Old Testament implies it. Moses spoke of Israelites who would have "circumcised heart's" (Deut. 30:6). Isaiah also described changes that resemble the New Testament depiction of the new birth (Is. 57:15)

Justification is first  presented in the Bible with regard to Abraham. The Scripture says that Abraham believed God's promises to him and his faith was accounted to him as righteousness (Gen. 15:6; Rom. 3:23-4;12; Gal. 3:6). If personal fulfillment of the law were necessary to justification before God, no one would have been saved. Believers in God are justified by faith in Christ, who is God's sacrifice. This satisfies God's righteous demands; all those who trust in Christ are counted righteous (Rom. 4:5, 5:1).

Sanctification is the work of God in developing the new life and bringing it to perfection before God. It is being separated  from the sinful life and being set apart for a sacred purpose. Though Christians are sanctified fully in Christ, they are gradually becoming experientially what they already are positionally (Rom. 6:11; 12:1; 1 Cor. 1:2).

Glorification is the completion of the work of God in the believer. In justification, God placed us in a righteous position before Himself. In sanctification, God is working in the Christian to bring him to the image of Jesus Christ. Glorification is when God presents the believer perfect without sin in heaven (Rom. 8:30)

Romans 8-10
"The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness,
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When you come to God in prayer, come just as you are..
The prayer below is a sample prayer, speak from your heart, with all your heart confess you are a sinner, accept God's gift of salvation, by grace you will be saved.

Father God in heaven in the name of Jesus, I come to repent from a life of sin. I am a sinner, and I need your forgiveness. I am sorry for my sins and the way I have lived my life.

I believe that Jesus is your only begotten Son and he shed His blood on the cross at Calvary and rose again. Jesus took my sin upon Himself so that I could live a victorious life and be in fellowship with you, now and forever.

Right now, with all my heart, I confess Jesus as the Lord of my life and accept Him as my own personal Savior. I am willing now, at this moment to give my life to you and turn away from my sins.

Your word says in Romans 10:9 says that if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe with all my heart that you (God) raised Jesus from the dead, I will be saved.

I believe you are the one and only God, and by Your grace I am now at this moment saved from all my sins. I thank you God I now can call you Father by the precious blood of Jesus which has redeemed me from a life of sin and ungodliness, and has now given me eternal life.

Thank you for transforming my life and saving me this very moment so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me a new life, now and through eternity.
